No Barriers

If you are part of the Visually Impaired community, chances are that you’ve heard of Erik Weihenmayer.  He is widely known for becoming the first blind man to summit Everest and he went on to complete the Seven Summits (summiting the highest peak on each continent). Our whole family has read his latest book about kayaking the Colorado River. He’s co-founder of the No Barriers movement which helps people to overcome barriers and live a life of purpose. The No Barriers motto is, “What’s Within You is Stronger Than What’s in Your Way.”  Click here to watch a great video about Kai & No Barriers.

Click here to visit Erik’s page on the No Barrier’s website where you can read more about his adventures and contributions to society. His books and movies are truly inspirational and Erik’s voice was one of the first and most resounding voices we heard when Kai began to lose his vision.  Erik’s experiences have had an extreme impact on Kai.  I’m super thrilled to announce that Kai has been chosen to attend the No Barriers Summit in NYC next month! Kai and his brother, Cash, are psyched to meet Erik in person and experience others who embrace the No Barriers lifestyle. This will be the ultimate “brothers-only” trip!

We’d like to personally thank the No Barriers staff who have been working tirelessly to make the boys’ trip a reality — thank you Penn & Didrick! And, a special shoutout to Kai’s corporate sponsor Cabinets-to-Go. We are so grateful for your encouragement and financial support in making Kai’s Summit dream a reality.

I will post an update in mid-October after the boys return, but I wanted to let everyone know that there are still a few spots open. So if you are interested in attending this incredible Summit event, please click here to learn more.
